We are engraver Martin Mørck, bookbinder Klara K and letterpresser Erling Jørgensen. We each represent crafts which have seen a significant regress in the north - to a degree, where we are very few active craftsmen left. Besides creating a work of art together, we want communicate the process and how we each work to the public. The project: The literary work we have chosen for the project is Haruki Murakami’s: What I Talk about, when I talk about running. Mr. Murakami have generously permitted us to use his text for the project.

Engraver Martin Mørck is in the process of creating a series of new illustrations for the book, which will then be handed over to Erling Jørgensen, who will typeset the book - by that we mean transfer the engravings and writing on to paper. Erling Jørgensen will set the text in led types by hand (the original Gutenberg technique). When the pages have been pressed Klara K will create 25 unique books. She will work with different kinds of materials, like handmade paper, aquatint prints, coated paper, intarsia and hand sown headbands, in that way we will try to display the diversity of the material and their influence on the interoperation of the piece of work.

8 Special Editions of Haruki Murakami's 'What I Talk About When I Talk About Running' can be seen at DesignMuseum Danmark August 22 - September 24 2023.
